Provided virtually by CAPS, Mason CARES is a gatekeeping program designed to train faculty, staff, and students in how to respond to individuals who may be experiencing distress and suicidal thoughts and guide them in seeking appropriate assistance from Counseling and Psychological Services. Mason CARES talks about suicide to educate the Mason Community on how to:

  • recognize and respond to those in crisis
  • increase awareness and knowledge of available resources in regards to suicide prevention, mental health, and wellness
  • help change the perceptions most people have concerning mental health by circulating positive images of mental illness and promoting help-seeking behaviors

To schedule a MasonCares presentation for your organization, class, or department, please submit your request via our community education form at the following link:

Community Education Request Form

Requests should be submitted at least 3 weeks in advance.
