Jayoti (she/her/hers) is a doctoral student from the Clinical Psychology PsyD. program at the George Washington University (GWU) and is currently completing her externship at CAPS. Jayoti received her Master’s degree in Mass Communication from Jamia Millia Islamia and her second Master’s degree in Counseling and Dance/Movement Therapy from Antioch University New England. Prior to pursuing doctoral studies, Jayoti served as a counselor and activity therapist in Dominion Hospital, George Washington University Hospital, and Sagebrush Rehab Center, a dual diagnosis addiction treatment center. During her graduate training, Jayoti has enjoyed providing psychotherapy for diverse individuals in the Center Clinic and Culpepper Garden. Passionate about the creative arts, advocacy, and communicating effectively, Jayoti also had a career in journalism and filmmaking which included reporting and publishing articles on various national and international news. Jayoti enjoys working with students who are healing from trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, and identity development concerns. Her approach to therapy draws on psychodynamic, mindfulness, creative arts, and relational-cultural theories.
