Psychology Intern
Jayoti (she/her/hers) is a doctoral student from the Clinical Psychology PsyD. program at George Washington University (GWU) and is currently completing her internship at GMU CAPS. Jayoti received her Master’s degree in Mass Communication from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, M.A. degree in Counseling and Dance/Movement Therapy from Antioch University New England, and Master’s in Psychology from GWU. Prior to pursuing doctoral studies, Jayoti served as a counselor and activity therapist at Dominion Hospital, George Washington University Hospital, and Sagebrush Rehab Center, a dual-diagnosis addiction treatment center. During her doctoral training, Jayoti has enjoyed providing psychotherapy for diverse individuals in the Center Clinic, Culpepper Garden, and served as an extern at GMU CAPS. Passionate about the creative arts, advocacy, and communicating effectively, Jayoti also had a career in journalism and film making which included reporting, television production, and publishing articles on various national and international news. Jayoti enjoys working with students who are healing from trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, and identity development concerns. Her approach to therapy draws on psychodynamic, mindfulness, creative arts/dance movement therapy, and relational-cultural theories.
