Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Coordinator of Group Therapy Services

Dr. Quay is a licensed clinical psychologist in Virginia. She completed her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from James Madison University and completed an APA-accredited doctoral internship at Appalachian State University’s Counseling and Psychological Services. She coordinates the group therapy program at CAPS. Dr. Quay provides a highly integrative approach to therapy, which means she is able to meet students where they are at in their therapeutic journey. Therapy often involves mindfulness, which allows for a more holistic experience of oneself, fueled by curiosity, acceptance, and self-compassion. Dr. Quay enjoys puns, questionably trashy TV shows, winning arguments with her husky, and family time.

In supervision, Dr. Quay values a relational, collaborative, and developmental approach, where your needs are prioritized. As a supervisor, she is patient and compassionate—she was in your position once so SHE GETS IT. We are in this together! She deeply values the process of making space for her supervisees to lean into and accept their own therapy style and not just mimic hers. In order to cultivate that space, Dr. Quay prioritizes safety, cultural humility, humor, and empowerment for her supervisees to grow into their most authentic professional selves.
