Licensed Professional Counselor and Assistant Director, Clinical Services
Shannon is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, GA and a master’s degree in counseling from Regis University in Denver, CO. Shannon previously worked at East Carolina University’s Center for Counseling and Student Development. She also has experience working with at-risk youth in day treatment programs located in East St. Louis, IL and Biloxi, MS. Shannon’s work stems from an integrative approach employing principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. Shannon has experience working with student athletes and provides some clinical services in Mason Athletics’ Field House. Shannon’s areas of interest include crisis management, behavior modification, stress management, anxiety, and adjustment/transition issues. As the Assistant Director, she works closely with the clinical services team to review and improve CAPS’ services and also manages data reporting for the Center.
