If you are concerned about your ability to keep yourself or others safe or are currently experiencing significant emotional distress, we encourage you to contact CAPS at 703-993-2380 to speak with a crisis counselor and determine how best to support your needs.

For mental health crises when we are closed, please call CAPS at 703-993-2380 and select option 1, to connect with an after-hours crisis counselor. Please visit our After-Hours Crisis Support page.

Another option for support is the Emotional Support Line, which is staffed by the Center for Community Mental Health (CCMH) through George Mason University’s Psychology Department:

You can call the CCMH Emotional Support Line to speak confidentially with a trained provider about stress, anxiety, depression, or grief. the phone line is anonymous & confidential. The support line number is: 703-215-1898. Their hours of operation are Monday-Sunday from 8:30 AM – 8:30 PM. For further information please read CPS Emotional Support Line.
