Assistant Director, Psychiatric Services

Dr. Jagarlamudi (she/her) is a licensed psychiatrist in the Commonwealth of Virginia and is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Psychiatry. She is also a member of the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Jagarlamudi received her B.A. in Psychology from Creighton University and her M.D. from American University of the Caribbean. After medical school, Dr. Jagarlamudi completed her Psychiatry Residency training at Temple University Hospital and served as Chief Resident during her final year of training. Prior to coming to Mason, she completed a fellowship in Student Mental Health at The University of Chicago. Dr. Jagarlamudi has worked in a number of clinical settings including university counseling centers, inpatient hospitals, and psychiatric emergency rooms. She believes treatment can come in a variety of formats including medication, psychotherapy, lifestyle modification, or a combination of all. Dr. Jagarlamudi draws on a variety of psychotherapeutic techniques including interpersonal, cognitive-behavioral, and insight-oriented to bring the best of each modality into the therapeutic relationship and to complement the use of medications. Dr. Jagarlamudi also believes that medication management works best in combination with psychotherapy. Her professional and clinical interests include treating mood disorders, anxiety disorders, emotional and identity development concerns, and multicultural issues. Services provided at CAPS include psychiatric assessments, medication management, and crisis intervention.
