Psychology Extern

Sohrab is a psychology extern at CAPS and is currently pursuing his Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology at The George Washington University. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of British Columbia. Prior to joining CAPS, he trained at the GWU Center Clinic and the University of the District of Columbia Counseling and Wellness Center, where he provided individual psychotherapy to adults presenting with anxiety, depression, complex trauma, relational and personality concerns, identity exploration, academic stress, and cultural adjustment. Sohrab approaches therapy primarily from a psychodynamic perspective, with an interest in helping patients to better understand who they are today, how they came to be where they are, and how earlier experiences and relational patterns may continue to shape their current difficulties. He takes a holistic approach that considers developmental experiences, current symptoms, relationships, culture, and broader social factors, while also integrating interventions informed by CBT and schema therapy based on each client’s needs. He is also interested in psychological assessment, particularly ADHD and performance-based assessment.
