Black History Month is a time to honor and celebrate Black life and the substantial ways Black individuals have helped shape U.S. history and beyond. To commemorate Black History Month, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is pleased to present Outspoken: An Open Mic Night Event.
Join CAPS for a night of poetry, music, and artwork featuring varied artists from the George Mason and greater DMV area. The event will be held on Thursday February 20th at 6:00pm in the Student Union Building 1 on George Mason University’s campus.
The purpose of this event doubles as an opportunity for students to showcase their work via voice and art, and to be moved from the talent of others by being a member of the audience.
If you would indeed like to be added to the list as a performer, please submit your materials to Dr. Jessica Desalu at jdesalu@gmu.edu by February 10th. Although we welcome pieces that are pertaining to Black mental health and the Black experience, this is not a requirement for performers.
The event is open to all, and light refreshments will be provided. For more information, please visit: https://tinyurl.com/outspokenGMU or please contact Dr. Jessica Desalu at jdesalu@gmu.edu.
