Licensed Professional Counselor
Kate (she, her, hers) is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a registered, board certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC) in the state of Virginia. She received her undergraduate degree in Sociology and Psychology from Virginia Tech and her masters in Art Therapy from The George Washington University. Kate has worked at the residential, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient levels of care with a variety of populations including adolescents, young adults, and adults experiencing mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma diagnoses, and eating disorders.
Kate works from a strengths-based, client-centered framework pulling from a variety of theoretical approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Trauma Informed Care. In addition, as an art therapist, Kate integrates a creative approach to the process of exploring, expressing, and containing the spectrum of emotions students experience in the collegiate setting. Kate works to connect students with valuable resources, informed by each person’s lived experience, intersecting identities, and access to support.
