You can call us from Monday through Friday from 8.30 to four o'clock. If you're in crisis, please let one of our helpful front desk staff know and we'll be able to get you help as soon as possible. I use he, him, his pronouns, and I'm the Interim Associate Director for Clinical Services at CAPS. In an effort to adhere to university public health safety guidelines, we currently offer our services virtually, as well as the limited services in-person. All students seem for in-person services and all staff providing these services are required to wear masks. For many students, this may be a reason to choose telemental health services instead. We offer counseling via an encrypted video platform as your privacy is of most importance to us. You must be in the State of Virginia to receive counseling services. However, we also offer crisis services and case management and can work with you on getting connected to somebody in the community if that's appropriate. We also offer group counseling and I'm going to roll it over to Dr. Khan to talk more about that. Hi. My name is Dr. Brooke Khan. My pronouns are she, her, hers, and I'm the Interim Assistant Director of Clinical Services. Group therapy is a great way to connect with and receive support from other students who are experiencing similar concerns to learn from others and to learn strategies to navigate personal challenges and difficult emotions. CAPS offers a range of groups to support students, including general therapy groups, structured groups, and identity-based groups. Some other groups are going to be facilitated by doctoral level interns. I'm going to get Dr. Minieri to talk more about this. Hi. My name is Alexandra Minieri, but I typically go by Allie. My pronouns are she, her, hers, and I'm the Associate Director of Training Services here at CAPS. You may be scheduled to work with a psychology intern or extern who is part of our training program. The interns and externs at our office are clinicians in training for completing their doctoral studies in clinical or counseling psychology, and as part of that process, they receive supervision for the work that they do. In addition to therapy services, they are actively part of the outreach programming that we offer on campus. My name is Tory Huesgen, pronouns she, hers, and I am the Interim Assistant Multicultural Outreach and Prevention Coordinator at CAPS. At CAPS, we offer a wide range of services beyond therapy. Some of our semesterly programs include our weekly workshops on a variety of mental health topics are Mason Care, suicide prevention training, and our racial justice theories. We also offer mental health presentations that you can request through our website. If you find this presenting in one of your classes or tabling on campus, feel free to stop by and ask us any questions you might have about our services. Additionally, we offer a daytime and after hours crisis services and are partnered with Protocol, a crisis hotline. Protocol provides students with access to licensed clinicians who provide crisis intervention and referral services at night and on weekends. I work on a part-time basis and offer time-limited psychiatry by appointment only to students currently receiving individual therapy at CAPS. For students in need of more specialized psychiatric treatment, we will work with you to establish care with the provider in the community. We also offer athlete outreach services.
