Jessica M. Desalu, Ph.D.

Dr. Jessica M. Desalu is a licensed clinical psychologist in Virginia. She completed her doctoral degree at Syracuse University and completed her APA-accredited doctoral internship at the Howard University Counseling Service. Dr. Desalu has worked in a number of clinical settings, including outpatient clinics, residential treatment centers, psychiatric hospital units, and university counseling centers. Her approach to therapy is integrative and draws from psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and multicultural approaches. Dr. Desalu is particularly invested in serving individuals presenting with stressors related to one’s racial/ethnic background and sexual orientation, relationship distress, identity development, and various forms of trauma. Dr. Desalu provides a range of services at CAPS, including individual therapy and group therapy, workshops, outreach and consultation, and supervision to externs. Of note, Dr. Desalu has a keen interest in coordinating services that upholds the CAPS mission for diversity and inclusion.
