Brian Piehl, M.A.

Psychology Intern

Brian is a doctoral intern at CAPS who is completing his Ph.D. in clinical psychology at The Catholic University of America (CUA). Prior to attending CUA, he completed his Master’s degree at Teachers College, Columbia University in Psychology in Education. During his training, Brian has acquired experience in both university counseling center and private practice settings and specializes in suicide prevention and self-harm reduction. In therapy, Brian is collaborative in his treatment planning, aiming to empower clients in working towards their goals. Specifically, he draws on aspects from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) as well as person-centered and interpersonal approaches. In his free time, Brian enjoys watching basketball and football, cooking, and learning more about the history of the DMV area.
