Mindfulness Series

This four-session series offers an introduction to "mindfulness" and its real-world application. Mindfulness concepts and exercises will be used to allow us to appreciate more clearly the ways that we can get lost in the past and future -- in regret and worry -- and compromise our ability to really be present in our lives -- for ourselves and others.

Sessions will include an interactive discussion of mindfulness along with an introduction to and practicing of exercises for toning down mental chatter and cultivating greater mindful awareness. You will leave the workshop with a deeper understanding of fundamental mindfulness principles and exercises you can use to find balance the midst of your challenging and extraordinary life.

Mondays 3-4:20pm Room C April 2-April 23 Stella Hongola

Group members may be dealing with a wide range of issues, including coming out, connecting with the GLBTQ community, depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, and other issues related to their GLBTQ identities.  If interested, contact CAPS to schedule a pre-group screening.

Culture and Family Group

Do you find yourself having difficult relationships with family members? Do differences between your cultural identity and experiences seem to clash with those of family members? This group is designed for students to discuss how family and cultural issues, and the intersection of the two, have affected self-identity and relationships. Group members are encouraged to share their experiences in a safe and confidential environment where they can give and receive feedback from others and obtain support from others who can understand their experiences.

Men's Group

This group provides an opportunity for men to talk about issues they commonly face while receiving support and feedback from other men. The focus of the group will be flexible to meet the needs of members. Common topic areas include relationship concerns (e.g., dating, family, friends), stress management, risk taking behavior, greater emotional expression and interpersonal flexibility, physical health, and communication skills.
