Karen Bagley, PhD

Karen Bagley was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., where she lived before completing her undergraduate studies in biology at the University of Pennsylvania. After obtaining a master’s degree in public health at Johns Hopkins University, she worked for several years conducting mental health research and evaluation before completing her graduate studies in clinical psychology at George Mason University.
Dr. Bagley’s clinical experience has included providing psychotherapy services as well as assessment of intellectual, academic, personality, social and emotional functioning. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at GMU CAPS before joining the staff full-time. Throughout all of her experiences, Dr. Bagley has maintained an interest and focus on working with individuals from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds and understanding the role culture plays in their lives.

Dr. Bagley’s therapeutic approach is integrative in nature, drawing on interpersonal, cognitive-behavioral, and insight-oriented orientations in her work with clients. Her goal is to create an open space where she can work collaboratively with clients on their concerns. Specific clinical interests include multicultural/diversity issues, identity development, and sports psychology. Personal interests include spending time with family, running, and reading.
