If you are concerned with any of these issues, a group can provide you with the support to deal with these or similar concerns. An appointment with the group facilitator is required before joining any group. To schedule an appointment, contact Counseling and Psychological Services, Student Union Building I (SUB I), room 364, 703-993-2380.
The following groups begin in Fall 2009. If you are interested in a group but cannot attend at the time listed, or if no time listed, please contact the group facilitator to discuss your interest.
General Therapy Group
This counseling group is for anyone who wishes to explore and improve personal relationships. Members will have an opportunity to better understand how past experiences impact their current quality of life. Members will receive feedback on areas of concern, and learn ways to cope with stressors that affect their academic and personal lives. This group provides a safe, confidential space for people to explore and practice strategies for interpersonal growth.

A Women’s Support Group
This group offers a safe space for women to join together in conversations about relationships, assertiveness, stress management, cultural dynamics, identity development, academics and the multiple roles of simply being ‘women’! Group members will benefit from receiving feedback and support from each other. Group will resume in September.

GLBTQ Interpersonal Process Group
This is an interpersonal process group for members of the GLBTQ community who want to learn more about themselves and their interactions with others. In group, members will have the opportunity to share common struggles, gain support, and give and receive feedback in a safe environment. This group is different from the Trajectories support group because it is a closed therapy group.

Men's Group
This group provides an opportunity for men to talk about issues they commonly face while receiving support and feedback from other men. The focus of the group will be flexible to meet the needs of members. Common topic areas include relationship concerns (e.g., dating, family, friends), stress management, risk taking behavior, greater emotional expression and interpersonal flexibility, physical health, and communication skills. A safe, confidential space will be provided to allow members to explore topics in-depth, with the goal of increasing self-awareness and life satisfaction.

If you have trouble coping with intense and volatile emotions or difficult relationships, this group might be for you. In the mindfulness group you will learn some ways of accepting and regulating your emotions, coping with stress, and dealing with relationship challenges

Mobile Stress Management Clinic
If you are alive, you will experience stress. No one is immune. Stress happens whenever your mind and your body react to some real or imagined situation. The Mobile Stress Management Clinic is designed to provide techniques to help students manage their stress level because prolonged stress can cause fatigue, concentration problems and other symptoms. Come by and learn ways to control your stress level now!
T he mobile stress management clinic will be available on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month from 1-2pm in the Johnson Center.

GLBTQ
Support and Discussion Group
This group is facilitated by a licensed psychologist and provides a safe space where students can come together to connect with peers and receive support for personal issues related to their sexual and gender identities.
